deWeaver Commits to Michigan State

HUBER HEIGHTS -- Four star Wayne quarterback Messiah deWeaver committed to Michigan State Wednesday night at Wayne High School.
deWeaver had originally committed to Michigan last June but re-opened his recruitment after Brady Hoke was fired.
The offers came pouring in, including Mississippi State, Penn State and Kentucky.
But a December visit to East Lansing sealed the deal.
"When I stepped on campus in December and really got to know them as a family, I kind of knew then," deWeaver said. "I just can't wait to get up there. I'm so excited right now."

deWeaver says he plans to enroll early at Michigan State.deWeaver Commits to Michigan State

BREWERS-REDS

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Jimmy Nelson won his career-best third consecutive start and the Milwaukee Brewers rode a six-run fifth inning to a 7-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday night.

Six Brewers each drove in one run as Milwaukee extended its best winning streak in more than a year to seven games. Adam Lind homered and Jean Segura had three hits, helping suddenly explosive Milwaukee has scored 47 runs in the first six games of the current road trip.

The winning streak is the Brewers' longest since they won nine straight from April 4 through April 13, 2014.

Nelson (6-8) overcame solo home runs by Marlon Byrd and Ivan De Jesus Jr. to last 5 2-3 innings. He gave up eight hits and three runs with one walk and five strikeouts.

MLS-RED BULLS-CREW

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Kei Kamara set up Ethan Finlay's two goals, and the Columbus Crew rallied to beat the New York Red Bulls 2-1 on Saturday night.

The Kamara-to-Finlay connection was a role reversal for the league leaders in goals (Kamara 12) and assists (Finlay 10).

Finlay punched in Kamara's header to give Columbus the lead in the 74th minute. The Crew (6-6-6) held on from there and moved ahead of the Red Bulls (6-6-5) in the Eastern Conference standings.

Anatole Abang put the Red Bulls in front in the eighth minute, beating goalkeeper Steve Clark with a roller inside the far post.

Finlay tied it in the 33rd, taking a flick header from Kamara, cutting back and curling a left-footed shot into the net. Clark was credited with an assist on the long ball to Kamara.

Red Bulls coach Jesse Marsch was sent off in stoppage time.
